Nail-biting games witnessed at TANA & BATA Volleyball Tournament

Telugu Association of North America (TANA) and Bay Area Telugu Association (BATA) organized their Annual Volleyball/Throwball Tournament at Newark, California on September 11th, 2021. The tournament started around 8 am at Ash Street Park in Newark and went throughout the day till 7 pm. With over 35 teams participation, involving more than 200 players spanning Advanced, Intermediate, Recreation groups for Men and Throwball for women.

There were seasoned players along with who wanted to come and support the cause. The playground was packed with well-prepared players and enthusiastic supporters. Most of the games were very closely contested. The audience enjoyed several nail-biting matches. In all the matches players exhibited their skills and style with spikes and returns resulting in long rallies.

Tournament organizers Ram Thota (TANA RR, Northern California), Sateesh Vemuri (TANA Secretary), Harinath Chikoti (BATA President), Prasad Mangina (BATA Advisor) and Veeru Vuppala (BATA Advisor) thanked all the teams for their participation and continued support in organizing a successful tournament. Funds raised through this tournament will be donated to a worthy cause. Shiv Sekhar and Vijay were specially acknowledged for leading the tournament. Manish, Ekta Daga and Shiva Kumari were also appreciated for their support.

TANA President Anjaiah Chowdary Lavu conveyed best wishes to TANA and BATA teams. TANA team consisting of Murali Godavarti, Bhargav C, Hari Nallamala, Srinivas Veerapaneni, Srikanth Koneru, Sastry Lal, JP Vegendla, Sridhar Panchumarthi, Azad, Vinay Parachuri, Sreedhar Chava, Srini Valluripalli, Mike Bandla, Vivek, Veerababu, Reddaiah and Sridhar Reddy took active roles in organizing the tournament successfully. Speaking on the occasion Harinath Chikoti (BATA President) said he is extremely happy with the response and congratulated all the players for their dedication. BATA Committee members Kondal Rao, Karun Veligeti, Ramesh Konda, Yashwant Kudaravalli, Shiva Kada, Adi, Harish, Uday and Kranti attended and supported the tournament.

Fremont Council member Raj Salwan attended the event and congratulated TANA and BATA teams for organizing sports events in these tough COVID times. He presented trophies to the winning teams. Sanjay Taxpro, Apex consulting, Srini Goli RealEstates, PNG Jewelers, Dunkin, Sridhar CPA, Azad financial services, Swagat, Mallik Realtor, RitePros and Paatasala Telugu school were the sponsors for the event and food was sponsored by GumaGumalu.

On behalf of event organizers, TANA Regional Representative Ram Thota congratulated all the players and the winners of the tournament. He thanked the entire TANA leadership for their extended support and thanked the TANA volunteers and representatives that attended the event. He also thanked the BATA team and volunteers for their support and efforts in organizing the tournament and ensuring all the matches were conducted on time and  for making the event a grand success. He then thanked all the sponsors for their continued support and  announced the upcoming TANA events in the Northern California region and requested for continued support from TANA members and BayArea Telugu Community.
