Cumming, Georgia: The Greater Atlanta Telangana Society (GATeS), a respected community organization committed to promoting service, culture, and civic values, successfully organized a youth-driven “Adopt a Road” activity on Sunday, April 13th, 2025. This initiative was part of GATeS’s continued efforts to foster civic responsibility and environmental stewardship among the next generation.

The cleanup initiative took place along a 2-mile stretch between Old Atlanta Road and Buford Highway, in the Cumming area. This hands-on service event drew enthusiastic participation from local youth, families, and volunteers, all united by a shared goal of giving back to the community and keeping it clean and beautiful.

School students, along with their families and community volunteers, gathered promptly at 8:00 AM on a bright Sunday morning, filled with energy and enthusiasm. The young volunteers did an outstanding job, spending over two hours diligently cleaning up the area. Their commitment and spirit were truly inspiring, reflecting the values of service and leadership that GATeS strives to instill.

Volunteers checked in, received safety guidelines and cleanup materials, and worked in teams to collect and properly dispose of litter along the adopted roadway. At the end of the activity, all student participants received certificates of appreciation and earned volunteer service hours, recognizing their valuable contribution to the community.

This initiative truly showcased GATeS’s mission of promoting service, culture, and youth enrichment. It was more than just a cleanup, it was a moment of learning, bonding, and civic pride. A big thank you goes out to the dedicated students, supportive families, passionate volunteers, as well as the serviced GATeS Executive Committee, Board Members, and Chairs who played a vital role in making this event a great success. Your collective efforts truly brought our mission to life and made a meaningful impact in the community!
