Philanthropic Couple Sobha Reddy and Prasad Reddy Dedicated to Serving Communities in Need

Mrs. Sobha Reddy and her husband, Mr. Prasad Reddy, are remarkable philanthropists whose lives reflect a deep commitment to serving those in need. Through their generosity and compassion, they have made a meaningful difference in the lives of children, families, and underserved communities in India and the United States.

Recently, Mrs. Sobha Reddy contributed $25,000 toward food-delivery trucks serving nutritious meals to schoolchildren in Ballari, Karnataka. Together, the Reddys have also pledged $250,000 toward an Akshaya Patra kitchen that will provide breakfast and lunch to approximately 15,000 schoolchildren every day.

The project is currently in the planning stages, with efforts underway to acquire five acres of land near Venkatachalam, outside Nellore. Their commitment to children extends further through an initiative to provide free shoes to underprivileged boys and girls attending PRATHAM skill centers. The program will initially serve 10 centers in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh before expanding to other states.

The Reddys have also made an extraordinary contribution to healthcare, donating $550,000 to Sankara Nethralaya USA to establish a new MESU facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, supporting eye camps in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Eight eye camps have already been conducted in Andhra Pradesh, with the ninth scheduled in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, from September 27 through October 6.

Mr. Prasad Reddy has been a steadfast supporter and Brand Ambassador of Sankara Nethralaya USA since its inception in 1988 and currently serves as a Board Advisor and Brand Ambassador. As President and CEO of Twisted X, he has also demonstrated an exceptional commitment to philanthropy, contributing approximately 13% of the company’s profits annually to nonprofit organizations in the Dallas area, with contributions exceeding $2 million each year.

His philanthropic service has been recognized by the New Jersey State Senate and Assembly, including through a joint resolution presented at a Sankara Nethralaya New Jersey event. Sankara Nethralaya is also honoring Mr. Reddy with the prestigious Sankara Ratna Award in Chennai. Previous recipients have included distinguished leaders such as Ratan Tata, Dr. Madhavan Nair of ISRO, and A. M. Naik of Larsen & Toubro.
