NRI2NRI.COMAtlanta, Georgia, April 12, 2026: The Sankara Nethralaya USA (SNUSA) Atlanta Chapter hosted a vibrant and well-attended “Meet & Greet” event on April 12, 2026, at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta NE – Norcross, drawing more than 250 attendees from across Georgia and neighboring states. The evening marked a significant milestone as the organization formally welcomed Mr. Arvind Krishnaswami, CEO of Medlytix LLC, as the newest member of the Board of Advisors.

Cultural Performances by Atlanta’s Leading Music & Dance Academies
The event commenced with the traditional Jyothi Prajwalana, the ceremonial lighting of the lamp led by President Bala Reddy Indurti along with an eminent group of dignitaries Padma Bhushan awardee Dr. Jagdish Sheth, Mega Donors and Brand Ambassadors Mr. Shankar Subramonian, Mr. Arvind Krishnaswami, Mrs. Jaya Krishnaswami, and Dr. Kishore Chivukula, Member of the Board of Advisors, Treasurer Moorthy Rekapalli; JC Shaker Reddy; Board of Trustees Dr. Reddy Urimindi and Meher Lanka; Cultural Chair Neelima Gaddamanugu; Chapter Vice President Venky Neelam; and other dedicated members of the Atlanta SN team, in the divine presence of priest Shri Narasimhacharyulu, invoking blessings for a meaningful and successful gathering.
The evening opened with a vibrant cultural program featuring students from four of Atlanta’s leading classical dance and music academies, led by Shanti Medicherla of Suswara Sangeetha Vidyalayam, Soujanya Madhusudhan of Bharata Darshan School of Indian Classical Dance and Music, Mital Patel of Kalaxya Academy, and Neelima Gaddamanugu of Nataraja Natyanjali Kuchipudi Dance Academy. Their performances brought color, rhythm, and youthful energy to the celebration and were warmly received by the audience.

The cultural segment also featured a standout performance by Ramu (Chennai), a popular playback singer from India, whose powerful vocals and engaging stage presence drew enthusiastic applause. Ramu elevated the evening further by collaborating with talented local singers Shilpa Uppuluri (who also served as the master of ceremonies), Phani Dokka, Ram Durvasula, Usha Mocherla, Shanti Medicherla, and Raaga Vahini from Atlanta, presenting a multilingual medley in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu drawn from beloved film classics. For the captivating performance that resonated with a multilingual audience, President Bala Indurti fondly referred to him as “SPB Manasaputra.” Their combined presentation added vibrancy and emotional depth to the program, making it one of the most memorable highlights of the event.
Major pledge toward the Mobile Eye Surgical Unit
When the AV on Arvind Krishnaswami was presented, the audience responded with resounding applause and a standing ovation in recognition of his remarkable $555,000 contribution. President Bala Indurti shared that Arvind contributed $155,000 to support 12 MESU (Mobile Eye Surgical Unit) Adopt‑A‑Village eye camps. Three of these camps have already been successfully conducted in Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh, with the fourth scheduled in Anumasamudrampeta, Nellore (AP). The remaining eight camps will be organized over the next couple of years.

In addition, Arvind’s generous pledge of $400,000 will be used to establish a new MESU in one of India’s most underserved regions. Bala is currently working closely with Sankara Nethralaya India President, Dr. Girish Rao, to identify suitable locations in Maharashtra and Gujarat. Dr. Reddy Urimindi, Board of Trustees from Dallas and a former classmate of Arvind Krishnaswami at SMU, played a key role in introducing him to Sankara Nethralaya USA.
President Bala Indurti expressed his gratitude for this vital connection and for Dr. Urimindi’s travel from Dallas to support the program. He noted that this introduction has already enabled 12 MESU eye camps and provided capital funding for one MESU unit, marking a significant contribution to the organization’s mission. Arvind Krishnaswami’s life story reflects a rare, pan‑Indian arc that shaped both his worldview and his leadership style.

Born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, he spent his formative years moving across regions—first in Bangalore, Karnataka, and later in New Delhi—absorbing the linguistic and cultural diversity of each place. This early exposure to multiple languages, communities, and value systems gave him an unusually broad perspective and an instinctive ability to navigate varied social and professional environments.
He later pursued his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering at REC Surat (now NIT Surat) in Gujarat, adding yet another regional layer to his identity before moving to the United States for higher studies. At Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, he completed both an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and an MBA, setting the foundation for a career that would blend technical depth with business strategy. It was a proud moment to see Arvind’s entry into the half‑a‑million‑dollar club, alongside Prasad Reddy Katamreddy, marking a significant milestone in philanthropic leadership.

SNUSA President Bala Reddy Indurti acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the Atlanta Chapter team, whose coordination ensured the event’s success. The chapter’s officers, trustees, and volunteers—including Treasurer Moorthy Rekapalli, Board of Trustees Meher Lanka, Chapter Vice President Venky Neelam, Cultural Chair Neelima Gaddamanugu, and more than two dozen committee members—were recognized for their service and commitment. Bala also expressed his gratitude to all donors, volunteers, cultural academies, and community supporters who contributed to the event’s success.
Other Sankara Nethralaya Atlanta team members who participated in the event included Trustee Dr. Kishore Reddy Rasamallu; Chairs Ramesh Chaparala and Giri Kotagiri; Committee Members Paddy Rao and Subba Rao; Chapter Lead Srinivas Durgam; Youth Committee Member Charithra Julapally; and Chapter Leads Karthikeyan Vinayagam and Logiya Avilineli.

President Bala shared that his journey with Sankara Nethralaya began in 2016, initiated by then Vice President Dr. Seshu Sarma. At that time, the organization had just seven chapters; today, it has grown to thirty chapters across the country. He credited this remarkable expansion to a strong team of dedicated volunteers and the blessings of the founder, Padma Bhushan Late Dr. S. S. Badrinath, and SNUSA founder Sri S. V. Acharya.
Sincere thanks are due to the sponsors, community leaders, and volunteers who made the evening truly special. Those recognized for their support include JC Shaker Reddy, Thirumal Reddy Kumbum, Bob Erramilli, Ravi Kandimalla, Viren Mayani, Dr. Madhav Durbha, Dr. Aparna Durbha, Dr. Vijay Vemulapalli, Srikanth Rukkannagari, Kodanda Devarapally, Jagadeesh Cheemarla, Tiru Chillapalli, Anand Garlapati, Rajesh Vuchatu, Sheela Lingam, Madhavi Indurti, Balarami Valluru, Praveen Raghavan, Arthi Raghavan, Venkat Reddy Mondeddu, Raghava Babu Tadavarthi, Adi Chinnatimma, Sreekanth Gongalreddy, Praveen Puram, Lavanya Sreenath, Kiran Kandula, Anand Akkineni, Sridhar Goli, Bhaskar Cheemarla, Venkat Chennubhotla, Radha Venkat, Vijaya Lanka, Sreeman Jannu, and Sidhu Sridhar, along with Durgambica Neelam, Saharsh Karthikeyan, Nishevitha Avilineli, Rutvik Arjun Neelam, Tanuj Bolisetty, and Ratna Bonagiri.
