Sri Shiva Durga Temple in the city of Cumming, Georgia is well known for spirituality along with taking forward the Hindu culture and traditions. The perfection of following Hindu religion and customs are often more than normal in this divine Sri Shiva Durga Temple. One such example is the recent celebration of Maha Shivaratri.

Maha Shivaratri, the day when nature pushes human beings towards their spiritual peak, was celebrated at Shiva Durga temple on a grand scale on Feb 18th 2023. It was heartwarming to see 10,000 devotees visit the temple, bearing the cold and the long waits for Darshan of the Almighty on this night of Awakening.

Sri Shiva Durga Temple under the guidance of Pandit Karthik Dixit is known to celebrate all festivals in the most traditional way and no expense was spared during this day. The temple performed Saptha Kaala Abhishekams starting from 7 in the morning and continued throughout the night and into the next day until 4 am .

Each Kaala had Lord Shiva adorned in different rupas and this was a feast for devotees eyes. Noteworthy among all the decorations are the Artha Naareshwara Rupa and special Basma Abhishekam during the Lingodhbava Kaalam. It was a hard to describe but must felt feeling on such a divine day.

Basmabhisheka is one of the first ever performed in Atlanta and is only at Sri Shiva Durga temple in 2022. In 2023, thousands of devotees were blessed to be part of this event at this temple. It is great to be unique in following Hindu traditions and pujas.

Devotees thronged to the temple in very large numbers but the management and its volunteers, including both adults and school students, made the darshan, Jalabhishekam, Panchamrutham and Prasad available to each and everyone.

The temple was filled to capacity even after midnight and the Abhishekams and cultural programs filled the hearts of devotees with divine bliss. Devotees thanked the management and priest at Sri Shiva Durga Temple for making them felt like they are in India celebrating Maha Sivaratri.
