NRI2NRI.COMRegal Princess Cruise, July 25 – August 1, 2026, FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA — August 2026: In a landmark celebration of Indian spirituality, literature and culture, the first-ever Sagara Saptaham — a Srimad Bhagavata Saptaham conducted on the Atlantic Ocean — was held aboard the Regal Princess, together with the 30th Satavadhanam, Sagara Satavadhanam, led by the distinguished spiritual scholar and Tribhasha Mahasahasravadhani BrahmaSri Vaddiparti Padmakar Garu.

The seven-day spiritual and literary gathering brought together nearly 150 devotees from the United States, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Canada and India, creating a unique setting for devotees to come together as one spiritual community, experience the sacred teachings of the Srimad Bhagavatam, and celebrate India’s rich spiritual, literary and cultural heritage while journeying across the ocean.
Held from July 25 through August 1, 2026, aboard Princess Cruises’ Regal Princess, the journey began and ended in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with visits to Roatán, Honduras; Belize City, Belize; and Cozumel, Mexico. What began as a cruise became a deeply spiritual experience. The vast ocean provided an extraordinary backdrop for seven days of Bhagavata discourse, devotion, fellowship and cultural activities.

The name Sagara Saptaham brings together two profound ideas — Sagara, meaning ocean, and Saptaham, seven days dedicated to the sacred narration and contemplation of Srimad Bhagavatam. The spiritual journey began on July 25 with a special Sandhya Vandanam teaching at Princess Live. The Srimad Bhagavata Saptaham formally commenced on the morning of July 26 with Deeksha Kankana Dharana, marking the beginning of the seven-day spiritual observance.
From July 26 through July 31, devotees participated in daily Srimad Bhagavata discourses each evening at Princess Live, along with devotional and cultural activities throughout the voyage. The Saptaham culminated on the seventh day, August 1, with Deeksha Kankana Viranama, bringing the sacred seven-day observance to a meaningful conclusion.

The ocean itself added a powerful spiritual dimension. In Sanatana Dharma, the ocean represents vastness, depth and the limitless nature of the Divine. Just as countless rivers ultimately merge into the ocean, devotees from different countries and backgrounds came together and immersed themselves in Bhagavata Bhakti, transcending geographical and cultural boundaries.
Nearly 150 devotees from five countries came together for this extraordinary voyage. Families traveled from different parts of the world, united by their devotion to Srimad Bhagavatam and their connection to Indian spiritual and cultural traditions. For the participants, the week offered something truly special — seven consecutive days of spiritual learning, devotion and fellowship while sharing the journey with a large community of devotees. The ship became a floating spiritual community. The voyage was also enriched with devotional songs, Kolatam and cultural celebrations, bringing the spirit of Indian traditions alive on the ocean and fostering devotion, togetherness and cultural connection.

The initiative was led by BrahmaSri Vaddiparti Padmakar Garu, a renowned spiritual scholar, orator and exponent of the ancient Indian literary tradition of Avadhanam. Celebrated as a Tribhasha Mahasahasravadhani and a world-record holder for Sapta Khanda Avadhanam, Sri Padmakar Garu is renowned for his extraordinary literary and intellectual abilities and mastery of the Avadhana tradition across three languages. His leadership brought together the spiritual depth of Srimad Bhagavatam and the intellectual brilliance of India’s classical literary heritage.
A major highlight of the voyage was the 30th Satavadhanam of BrahmaSri Vaddiparti Padmakar Garu, marking a significant milestone in his distinguished Avadhana journey. Avadhanam is one of India’s remarkable classical literary traditions, requiring extraordinary memory, concentration, creativity and mastery of language. The Avadhani simultaneously responds to multiple literary challenges while maintaining remarkable mental focus and poetic expression. Presented in the unique setting of a cruise ship sailing across the ocean, the 30th Satavadhanam brought this ancient Indian intellectual tradition to an international audience. Together, Sagara Saptaham and Sagara Satavadhanam created a rare confluence of Bhakti, Sahitya and Samskriti — devotion, literature and culture.

Sagara Saptaham represents a beautiful example of how Indian heritage can transcend geographical boundaries. The timeless teachings of Srimad Bhagavatam were brought into a completely new environment — aboard a modern cruise ship sailing across international waters. At the same time, the 30th Satavadhanam brought one of India’s most extraordinary literary traditions to a diverse international audience. Together, they created a meaningful bridge between ancient wisdom and the modern world.
A special note of appreciation goes to Princess Cruises for their extraordinary support throughout the journey. Their cooperation began during the initial planning and continued seamlessly throughout the voyage. From the Sales and Planning teams to the onboard, culinary, guest services and operations teams, every department went above and beyond to understand and accommodate the unique requirements of Sagara Saptaham and its nearly 150 participants. Their exceptional coordination, hospitality and willingness to support the spiritual and cultural programs played an important role in making this journey possible and truly memorable.

When the Regal Princess returned to Fort Lauderdale on August 1, 2026, the physical voyage came to an end. But for the nearly 150 participants who traveled from five countries, the spiritual journey continues through the memories, inspiration and devotion they carried home. Sagara Saptaham and Sagara Satavadhanam were not simply programs conducted on a cruise. They became a journey of devotion, a celebration of Indian knowledge traditions, and a gathering that brought a global community together in the spirit of Bhagavata Bhakti.

Led by BrahmaSri Vaddiparti Padmakar Garu, this extraordinary voyage created a memorable chapter in the journey of Indian spirituality and literature — carrying the sacred message of Srimad Bhagavatam and the brilliance of Avadhanam across the ocean and into the hearts of devotees around the world. Sagara Saptaham — where the ocean became the setting, Bhagavatam became the journey, and devotion became the destination.
