The Government of Telangana has issued significant Government Orders (GOs) to enhance urban planning, economic growth, and infrastructure development in the state. These measures include the establishment of the Future City Development Authority (FCDA) and the expansion of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA).
Future City Development Authority (FCDA) – G.O.Ms.No.69
To facilitate structured urban expansion and industrial development, the Government has constituted a Special Area Development Authority named Future City Development Authority (FCDA) for the development of the “Future City Area” in Rangareddy District, covering 765.28 sq. km across 56 revenue villages.
This decision comes in response to rapid growth beyond the Outer Ring Road (ORR), particularly in the strategic corridor between Srisailam National Highway and Nagarjuna Sagar State Highway, which is in proximity to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. The Future City Area will include comprehensive master planning, multi-modal connectivity, metro expansion, economic and industrial clusters, and a Young India Skill University & Education Hub. To support this initiative, 36 revenue villages have been excluded from the HMDA jurisdiction and incorporated into the FCDA to ensure focused planning and governance.
HMDA Expansion – G.O.Ms.No.68
Simultaneously, the Government has expanded the boundaries of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Region (HMR) to align with the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project. The new HMDA limits will now cover 1355 revenue villages across 104 mandals in 11 districts, totaling 10,472.723 sq. km. This move aims to integrate rapid urbanization around the Regional Ring Road with planned development, infrastructure enhancement, and sustainable growth.
The RRR Growth Corridor will serve as a catalyst for economic expansion, industrial hubs, and real estate development. These landmark decisions are part of Telangana’s vision to create a well-planned, future-ready metropolis, positioning Hyderabad as a global urban center with modern infrastructure, investment opportunities, and enhanced connectivity.
