A beacon of women empowerment ‘Deepotsav’ celebrates 10th anniversary in Duluth, Georgia

The Deepotsav Ladies’ get-together has become a beacon of women empowerment and a celebration of femininity. With its tenth year celebration, this event marked a milestone in its journey towards women’s empowerment and the spirit of sisterhood. This year it was held at the Sapphire Banquet Hall in Duluth, Georgia.

The grand event was an evening full of fun, food, and festivities, exclusively for women. Hosted by Ms. Deepa Nallur from Duluth, the event has become an annual tradition, bringing together women from the Indian diaspora, from all walks of life to celebrate sisterhood, empowerment, and camaraderie.

Yesterday’s celebration was the biggest and best yet, with a wide range of exciting activities and performances. More than 125 women attended the event. The event that started with the Ganesh Vandana, featured a variety of entertainment, including skits, dances, singing, and instrumental performances, fun games, all by talented and enthusiastic women artists.

While every group dance and song was well received by the audience, the innovative “Lazy dance” was a highlight. The skit titled “Suwanee Mein Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham”, directed by Ms Deepa Nallur, with ladies playing Bollywood characters flawlessly was outstanding.

Ms. Manta Dani, Ms. Madhavi Yarlagadda, Ms. Aarthi George, Ms. Pallavi Satish, Ms. Saritha Thalluru, Ms. Anusha Visvanathan essayed important characters and won accolades for their acting talents. Some outstanding participants like Ms. Sudha Jalla, Ms. Khyati Shah, Ms. Mrudula Oleti, Ms. Laxmi Bannai, Ms. Kavitha Munagapati, Ms. Aruna Ramadgu, Ms. Padmaja Vempaty were recognized and awarded for their contributions to the event.

Lead coordinators like Ms. Sailaja Tallamraju, Ms. Sundari Rallapalli, and Ms. Smita Atre were recognized for their contributions to the event’s success. Motivational speeches and a women empowerment segment talking about “follow your passion” by Ms. Anita Cheemakurthy were also part of the program, aiming to inspire and uplift the attendees.

The event was also supported by a team of skilled women. Decorations by Ms. Bindu From Samskriti events, photography by Ms. Sneha Gupta and Audio/Video support by Ms. Taruni Madhav, ensured that every aspect of the celebration was truly special and opportunity was given to women entrepreneurs.

The Program Director Ms. Deepa Nallur said that the Deepotsav event, which started in 2013 as a small gathering with like-minded women in and around Suwanee, has constantly grown in popularity over the years. More and more women have been finding it a great avenue to exhibit their talents as it was a women-only event, allowing them to venture out of their comfort zone.
