Jubilant OFBJP Las Vegas Chapter Marks BJP’s Grand Success in West Bengal, India

Under the leadership of Dr. Prasad Adapa, President of Overseas Friends of BJP USA (OFBJP USA), and Dr. Vasu Patel, General Secretary of OFBJP USA, a new Las Vegas, Nevada chapter was formally established, with Manmohan Chopra appointed as its Convenor. Manmohan Chopra has previously served for many years as an active Karyakarta with the Los Angeles chapter of OFBJP.

On May 17, 2026, the newly formed Las Vegas chapter organized its inaugural event to celebrate the historic and resounding victory of BJP in the West Bengal General Assembly Elections, leading to the establishment of a BJP-led administration in the state after nearly 50 years.

The gathering also commemorated BJP’s third consecutive electoral victory in Assam and its second victory in Puducherry. The event was attended by Manmohan Chopra, Mohan Achanta (Past President of the Hindu Temple, VETA and AAA Las Vegas Chapter), Ashok Kapoor, Vivek Deshpande (HSS), Deven Singh, Jatinder Sharma, and their spouses.

The program commenced with a traditional Diya-lighting ceremony, followed by the rendition of the complete version of Vande Mataram and the national anthems of both the United States and India. This was followed by a brief address from Manmohan Chopra and remarks from other respected guests.

A heartfelt tribute was paid to the thousands of Karyakartas in West Bengal who sacrificed immensely, and in many cases lost their lives over the years, in the effort to restore democracy in the state. One of the highlights of the evening was the preparation of the famous Bengali delicacy Jhalmuri by the lady Karyakartas, which added a special cultural touch to the celebrations.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a renewed commitment toward strengthening the organization and community engagement in Las Vegas, Nevada.
