Summer picnic by Telugu community in Greater Toronto, Canada

The Telugu of the Greater Toronto Area celebrated a Summer Picnic with
great enthusiasm at Paul Coffey Park in Malton, ON, Canada. Hundreds of Telugu
families from surrounding cities have joined the day-long program Summer Picnic
Celebrations, which included a Onsite Dosa Party, Corn barbecue, and various games
for kids, adults, and couples.

The event commenced with socialization, during which members of the Executive
Committee shared their journey with the Telugu Cultural Association of Greater Toronto (TCAGT). The participants responded remarkably with happiness and joy, appreciating the successful organization of the event, complete with family entertainment and a wide variety of authentic south Indian food items.

The venue was beautifully decorated to welcome guests, members, families, and friends
of the Telugu Cultural Association of Greater Toronto (TCAGT). The event kicked off with a Dosa party, where freshly cooked Dosas were served by Nilgiris Indian Cuisine, offering a range of flavors that were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone for breakfast.

Subsequently, preparations for authentic and traditional Telugu food commenced, with
many participants contributing and experiencing the joy of cooking together. Simultaneously, games for kids were organized by Pravalika Koona, the Secretary of the
Telugu association, resulting in enthusiastic participation and prize winners among the
children.

A potluck followed, featuring a variety of freshly cooked authentic and traditional dishes. Attendees relished the opportunity to savor different types of food. Pravalika Koona continued her role as game conductor, this time overseeing games for couples and adults, where everyone eagerly took part and won prizes.

The TCAGT committee also organized a corn barbecue, allowing families and children to enjoy making their own barbecue creations. Siva Prasad Yellala, the President of TCAGT, extended greetings to all members and families, highlighting the association’s
achievements over its thirty-three years of community service. He emphasized how
TCAGT has nurtured leaders, singers, and artists, providing a platform for their
development.

Surya Bezawada, former TCAGT Chairman and Main Sponsor, conveyed his greetings
and appreciation for the co-sponsors, executive committee, and trustees for orchestrating the Summer mega picnic. He thanked participants and attendees for their presence and engagement.

Surya Bezawada introduced the event guests of honor: Honourable Deepak Anand, a
Member of Provincial Parliament for Mississauga-Malton and Hon. Dipika Damerla,
Former Member of Provincial Parliament of Ontario, current Mississauga City Councilor.

Honorable Deepak Anand expressed his happiness in interacting with the vibrant
Toronto Telugu community, lauding TCAGT for preserving Telugu cultural heritage and
language in Canada. Hon. Dipika Damerla, participated and joined on-site cooking along with volunteers and committee members.

She applauded the committee for continuously preserving Telugu Cultural Heritage for the past 3 decades. Visiting parent and community leader JST Sai from Hyderabad addressed the gathering. TCAGT key leaders, Executive committee, Trustees, JST Sai, Hon. Dipika Damerla, Honourable Deepak Anand and among others joined the felicitation of Surya Bezawada with a shawl for his continuous hard work, support, and sponsorship to strengthen the Telugu Community in Canada.

President Siva Yellala, Secretary Pravalika Koona, Treasurer Teja Vajha, Board of
Trustees Devi Chowdhary, Sr Advisor Surya Bezawada, Past presidents Rajesh Vissa,
Anitha Bezawada, including Madhu Chigurupati, Padmini, Sreevani, Sharath, Rajeev,
Suraj, Pratap and many other volunteers interacted and greeted all the attendees.

The attendees and guests acknowledged the executive committee and the Toronto
Telugu Community for their ongoing efforts in preserving and promoting Telugu language and culture over the past three decades. Prizes for kids’ games were distributed by Siva Prasad Yellala, TCAGT President, and Teja Vajha, TCAGT Treasurer. Surya Bezawada, the former TCAGT chairman, distributed prizes for adult and couple games.

TCAGT provided evening snacks for all attendees, and Treasurer Teja Vajha expressed
gratitude to sponsors and volunteers for their support in organizing the successful
Summer mega picnic. The event was undoubtedly a resounding success, bringing fun,
