Dallas, Texas, October 4, 2026: The Irving Arts Center in Irving, Texas, hosted Sankara Nethralaya USA’s Music & Dance for Vision 2026, transforming the venue into a vibrant showcase of culture and compassion. With over 300 attendees, the event began at 4:00 PM and highlighted the community’s strong support for the Mobile Eye Surgical Unit (MESU) and the mission to eliminate preventable blindness in rural India.

The evening opened with a warm welcome from Chapter Vice President Chinasatyam Veernapu and Board of Trustees member Dr. Reddy Urimindi, followed by graceful and engaging stewardship from Srisha Kotamraju, who served as the Master of Ceremonies and guided the program with poise and artistry. Following the US & India national anthems by Samanvitha Mada, the stage came alive with a dazzling array of classical Indian dance performances.

Dance academies from across the Dallas-Fort Worth area—including Center for Kuchipudi Dance-Texas, Natyom Dance Academy, Guru Parampara School of Arts, Natyanjali Kuchipudi Dance School, Raagaleena Dance Academy, Tandavam-School of Kuchipudi, Ragamayuri School of Dance—presented thematic pieces rooted in tradition and storytelling.

Each school brought a unique flavor to the stage, from mythological narratives to vibrant folk expressions, captivating the audience with their grace, discipline, and devotion. All the dance performers were recognized on stage with a medal, and their Gurus with a flower bouquet and a shawl.

Under Bala Indurti’s eight‑year leadership as President, Sankara Nethralaya USA expanded from seven to thirty cities and grew its Mobile Eye Surgical Unit program from two operating units to five, with three more underway. Reddy Urimindi, Board of Trustees, provided an overview of the adopt-a-village program, mobile eye surgical unit (MESU), and the latest metrics from each of the five MESU units.

Our sincere appreciation goes to benefactors Prakash Bedapudi, Thirumal Reddy Kumbum, Srini Veeravelli, Sunitha & Dr. Raju Kosuri, Arjun Madadi (In loving memory of his late wife, Bhanu Madadi), and new MESU Adopt-A-Village sponsors Dr. Krishnababu Chunduru, JK Reddy, FCA, Bhima Penta, Sudhakar Garlanka, and Prem Kalidindi. This remarkable outpouring of generosity translates into approximately 2,000 cataract surgeries, each one a life-changing gift of sight for underserved individuals suffering from vision impairment.

In a moment filled with admiration and gratitude, community leaders and sponsors were honored on stage by Chief Guest, Sankara Ratna Awardee Mr. Prasada Reddy Katamreddy, Dr. Reddy Urimindi, Board of Trustees, and Dallas Chapter Vice President Chinasatyam Veernapu, along with the entire committee members https://sankaranethralayausa.org/dallas-chapter.html played a pivotal role in orchestrating the event.
