Sportsmanship Shines at Greater Chicago Indian Community’s Indoor Badminton Championship in Naperville

Chicago, Illinois: The Greater Chicago Indian Community (GCIC) proudly hosted its annual Indoor Badminton Tournament on November 1, 2025, bringing together a vibrant crowd of players and spectators from across the region. The event saw enthusiastic participation across all categories, including Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Women’s Singles, Youth Boys Singles, and Youth Girls Singles.

Held at Play N Thrive Club, Naperville, the tournament showcased not only competitive spirit but also community togetherness. With over 100 matches played throughout the day, players demonstrated remarkable skill, sportsmanship, and energy. GCIC sports committee made sure court assignment was done to all teams promptly.

Tournament format was designed such that players of all skill levels could play together in league stage and after league stage teams were slotted in Advanced, Intermediate levels as per their performance. To keep participants fueled and refreshed, GCIC provided a variety of snacks and beverages including bananas, energy bars, Gatorade, water bottles, and a delicious lunch featuring pizza.

Evening refreshments included samosas and tea, which were enjoyed by players and guests alike. A heartfelt appreciation goes out to the GCIC Board Members (Suganthi Natarajan, Deeksha Sharma, Swapna B Bomma, Kalaivani Saravanan, Siva Reddy Palagiri, Srujan Nainappagari, Seshu Chamarthi, Shashank Saduneni, Suren, Hemachandru Nerlige Rangappa, Venkat Perumalla, Venkateswarulu Gajjela, Siva Arige) and Volunteers (Lakshmi Narayana, Kalyan, Prudhvi Raj, Prasant, Suresh Dulam)

Their tireless efforts and behind-the-scenes dedication were the backbone of this tournament’s success. From organizing logistics and coordinating match schedules to managing refreshments and assisting players, their commitment ensured a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Their teamwork and passion truly brought this event to life, and GCIC is deeply grateful for their invaluable contributions. The event concluded with a trophy ceremony, where winners and runners-up from each category were honored. GCIC extends heartfelt thanks to the sponsors and volunteers whose support made the event possible.
