Las Vegas, Nevada: The Vegas Telugu Association (VeTA) hosted a vibrant and culturally rich Bathukamma celebration at the Las Vegas Hindu Temple Grounds on Sunday, September 28, 2025. The event brought together over 200 Telugu families from across the Las Vegas valley, making it one of the most memorable community gatherings of the year.
Under the leadership of President Swathi Puppala, the event was beautifully organized with the support of the Advisory Committee and dedicated board members: Haritha, Sravanthi, Venu, Irfan, Arshad, Krishna, Bhargavi, Tanuja, and Latha Suvvari. The celebration was marked by the spirit of tradition, unity, and cultural pride.
Bathukamma, a floral festival celebrated predominantly in Telangana, was observed with traditional songs, colorful floral arrangements, and rhythmic dances. Women and children dressed in festive attire added to the lively ambiance as they carried and arranged stunning Bathukammas (flower stacks) with devotion and creativity.
A highlight of the evening was the Bathukamma competition, where participants showcased intricate and vibrant flower arrangements. Three best Bathukammas were awarded, and ten consolation prizes were presented to kids who made Bathukammas.
Everyone recognized their effort and enthusiasm. The prizes were distributed by Advisory Committee member Mohan Achanta, who applauded the community’s participation and the preservation of cultural heritage in a foreign land.
The Vegas Telugu Association extends heartfelt thanks to all the families, volunteers, and sponsors who contributed to the success of the event. The celebration stood as a testament to the strong cultural roots and unity among the Telugu diaspora in Las Vegas.
