Not many years ago, Telugu people in US were addicted to Gossip Andhra, an electronic gossip and fake news portal. Starting with students coming to masters and fresh innocent H1B folks, all the way to grownups interested in Indian movies and politics used to follow the alluring cooked up stories. Showcasing this web traffic, Gossip Andhra has been minting money from advertisers.
There was a point in time where if the Telugu movie producers do not advertise their movie releases with Gossip Andhra, they used to give bad reviews influencing the audience. The remarks made by Tollywood hero Nagarjuna Akkineni, director Anil Ravipudi, producer Vishwa Prasad, director Harish Shankar and many others publicly proved the same. When it comes to movie artists and politicians, Gossip Andhra treats them like dust, notoriously tying illegal affairs, issuing fake divorces and what not. Recent comments by the Tollywood heroine Colors Swathi in an audio function is another proof. She almost cried about Gossip Andhra gossiping about her divorce.
Politicians get even worse treatment. If a politician is in a political party that GossipAndhra doesn’t like, they will link head to the toe and create fake stories sitting inside four walls. They touch even their personal lives and relations. Pawan Kalyan is one such recent target last year. Even in the US, in the event if a big national Telugu organization like TANA, ATA, NATA, NATS, TTA, NRIVA, APTA do not give advertisements, they used to create fake stories pulling caste, religion and region to demoralize their mega prestigious conventions.
Losing its charm as an electronic news portal and not being able to compete with so many youtubers and innovative digital creators, Gossip Andhra ventured into video news. They hired female anchors and trying to portray the same fake news and gossips via what they call video news/stories. That did not work. Later, they started face to face interviews with the cine and political personalities in India with their articulative and twisted questions. It did not work in their favor either, for their business.
Lot of Telugus realized this ugly intent of biased and fake news, and banned forever. So, in this ever changing digital world, to keep up with the competition and advertisements revenue, Gossip Andhra shifted focus from movie celebrities and politicians to Telugu NRIs in US it seems. Obviously, being humans, local content attracts and at the same time scares people, especially the ones on student or employment visa.
They started using this cheap tactic to improve their web ranking and there by advertising revenue. Last year, they started with a story on Indians doing multiple jobs as if all the Indians are ruining the job market in entire US. Come on, give me a break. What is Indian population in US? How many are working in IT? They don’t give a damn for reality. Later, they cooked up another story on real state as if the Indian real estate agents and venture capitalists in US are cheating and completely screwing the real estate. Again it’s a no brainer cooked up story.
Now, in the last couple of days, they came up with another fake story, scaring the hell out of Telugu Associations and their leaders, as if the IRS and FBI agents have nothing to do and going against the Telugu Associations’ activities. There may be internal fights in the leadership sometimes, but these organizations always follow the law of the land. In fact, these organizations are the backbones when it comes to our culture, traditions, empowerment, and especially in difficult and catastrophic times.
For every crooked strategy they are using, we quoted an example proof in this article. You can Google the same and we bet you agree with us. None of these Gossip Andhra articles, refer any real-time names/examples or proofs. They always say someone said something to so and so. That itself proves that those are cooked up stories. There will always be good and bad everywhere. But zooming in on bad things, magnifying in heavy magnitude, suppressing good acts for one’s business sake is not acceptable.
Gossip Andhra has grown their business over Telugus and their interest for movies and politics. Guess what, now they are going against the same Telugus. They are losing the charm. Their quick growth is falling down and they are just trying to beat the bush. They think they are smart and can write whatever crap they want by sitting in India and float around US. The best way to hold these barbarous acts of pulling caste, religion, language and region to divide people and thereby gaining web traffic for their website is by banning and not entertaining such cooked up stories.
