Festival of flowers celebrated in large numbers in Indianapolis, Indiana – TTA

Bathukamma festival is celebrated across Telangana State by women during Dussehra Navaratri days. Since the inception of Telangana American Telugu Association (TTA), it has been organizing Bathukamma Celebrations across the US with a large number of women attending and playing Bathukamma.

With the blessing from TTA Founder Dr. Pailla Malla Reddy, support from TTA Advisory Chair Dr. Vijayapal Reddy, Co-Chair Dr. Mohan Reddy Patlolla, Member Bharat Madadi and under the leadership of TTA President Vamshi Reddy, TTA General Secretary and Nationwide Bathukamma Advisor Kavitha Reddy coordinated Bathukamma celebrations across the USA in many states this year.

Thousands of Men, Women and Children are participating, showing their affection, and making this event great success. On October 06, 2024, TTA Indiana Chapter celebrated the biggest Bathukamma festival in Indianapolis, Indiana. Approximately Two Thousand Telugu people attended this event and showed their affection to Telangana tradition, culture, and their love towards Bathukamma festival.

TTA Advisory Chair Dr. Vijayapal Reddy and TTA General Secretary Kavitha Reddy, TTA Indiana Regional Vice President Ravinder Reddy Purumandla, TTA Indiana team and many more volunteers planned and executed the event at Hamilton County 4-H Fairgrounds, Noblesville, Indiana. The event was very vibrant and colorful and created an astonishing festive atmosphere at the venue.

Bathukamma celebration started at 2PM with a mesmerizing Dhol Tasha group by playing Dhol and invited all elegant ladies with around 100 beautiful bathukammalu . Many women streamed into the venue with traditional dressing and created a vibrant spirit with the Dhol Tasha group. Followed by the TTA team inaugurated the Bathukamma event with lighting the lamp and classical Ganesha dance.

Srinath Kodali from Namaste Flavors, Detroit, Michigan made dinner arrangements, TTA Bathukamma food committee and volunteers served delightful food to all the guests starting around 6:30 pm. TTA Indianapolis ladies built 7 feet beautiful traditional Bathukamma with all real marigold, Carnations, mums and rose flowers which was the highlight of the event.

TTA Indianapolis ladies performed beautiful dance performances in the midway of the Bathukamma event, which was very charming and made the Bathukamma event more graceful. All ladies devotionally played Bathukamma for at least 3 hours continuously with enthusiasm. The Classy Event Decors, Swapna did the Venue decorations so beautifully.

All the guests took at least one picture at the photo booth and or at the Amma vaari setup. Atharav Naik helped with Pictures at the event. TTA Indiana Chapter sponsored 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for best dressed women, best bathukammalu, best bathukamma players and for girls as well. Bathukammas were immersed in water marking the closure of the program with the Aarati and fantastic Telangana traditional dappu by Sukumar Garugu, Srikanth Vasa.

TTA Indiana Team volunteer leads Cultural – Nishita Ravula, Decorations – Usha Pyreddy, Audio – Damodar Yemme, Logistics- Suveer Reddy, Emcee – Sujatha Kolla, Reception- Dhanunjay Boyapati, Food – Harish Kanthala and Sushant Kallem, with the support of many volunteers – Vinay Reddy, Venu Gopal Reddy, Srikanth Yakkala, Anuraag Reddy, Aakash Inavolu, Sukumar Garugu, Srikanth Vasa, Prashant Manohar, Srinivas Ryagalla, Sai Priya, Mamatha Kallem, Sadhya Rapolu, Harathi Boyapati, Revathi Earthneni, Shakila Garugu, Jayashree Vasa, Apoorva Dasari, HimaBindu Katuru, Joshika Thokala, Latha Udari, Neeta Udari, Venkat Gajjala, Srikanth Kondeti, Pradeep Mootla, Raghunath Reddy Baddam, Raghu Reddy Polu, Tej Pradeep, Surendar Bommineni, Sudheer Kundur, Surendara mareddy, made these celebrations an astounding success.

There were clothing and jewelry stalls arranged at the event to attract attendees, just in time for upcoming festivals Dussehra and Diwali. Also there were other stalls at the venue Mathnasium, Mortgage, Insurance, Heating and Cooling, Mana Badi, and Groceries to promote their products and services. TTA sincerely thank all the volunteers and women who skillfully made beautiful Bathukamma’s.
