1% of Georgia population contributes to 6% of tax base: India Appreciation Day @ Georgia capitol building

India Appreciation Day was celebrated at state of Georgia’s capitol building on March 14, 2023. Many Forsyth County officials along with the local Indian community members, Consul General of India Dr. Swati Kulkarni, and Georgia Governor Mr. Brian Kemp attended the event.

Georgia State Senators Shawn Still and Greg Dolezal presented Senate Resolution 125, recognizing the Indian community in Georgia. They appreciated Dr. Swati Kulkarni’s efforts and contribution to the diplomacy between India and the state of Georgia.

Georgia State House Representative Carter Barrett along with Representatives Brent Cox, Lauren McDonald, Todd Jones and Rick Jasperse presented the House Resolution 417, recognizing the state’s approximately 150,000 Indian population.

Officials commended the vibrant Indian community which represents 1% of the Georgia population in total but contributes to 6% of the tax base. Officials are appreciative for making positive impact and being the the most productive group primarily living in metro Atlanta.
