U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is a federal law enforcement agency under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. ICE protects America through criminal investigations and by enforcing immigration law to preserve national security and public safety.

As part of this mission, ICE agents are working in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). In many parts of Atlanta, Georgia, ICE agents arrested many on Sunday, January 26, 2025.

Targeted enforcement operations in Atlanta took place in the areas of Buford Highway, Doraville, Chamblee, Smyrna, Brookhaven, and Cobb County. Gwinnett County Public Schools sent families a statement saying a child’s immigration status (or that of their parents) does not affect their right to receive a public education.

Similar ICE operations have taken place across the United States, including in Los Angeles, Denver, and Chicago. Over the four days reported, there have been nearly 2,400 arrests and nearly 1,800 detainers lodged across US. 956 people were arrested and 554 detainers lodged in ICE operations on Sunday alone, according to ICE’s Facebook update.

President Donald Trump’s “border czar” Tom Homan warned illegals in an interview to ABC News over the weekend. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement began posting daily updates on its enforcement efforts last Thursday, just a few days after Trump took office.
