The Telangana American Telugu Association (TTA) sincerely thanks Advisory Council Member Bharath Reddy Madadi for his dedication and generosity. TTA also extend deep appreciation to our esteemed Founder, Dr. Pailla Malla Reddy, along with the entire Advisory Council and President Naveen Reddy Mallipeddi, for providing this incredible platform that empowers us to make a meaningful impact.
In loving memory of their parents, the Madadi brothers organized a MESU – Adopt a Village eye cataract surgery camp in their hometown, Ganagapuram (Warangal). This noble initiative was made possible with the support of the Sankara Nethralaya Foundation USA, under the banner of TTA. We deeply appreciate their commitment to serving the community and making a meaningful impact!
Sankara Netralaya, a renowned nonprofit organization based in India, has been conducting cataract surgeries for many years. It is also the first institution in India to operate a Mobile Eye Surgical Unit (MESU), a state-of-the-art facility designed by the IIT Madras team, bringing advanced eye care directly to underserved communities.
It is a 10 day camp (2/16/2025 to 2/24/2025). A dedicated team of 21 professionals from the foundation, including experienced ophthalmologists and medical assistants, led this initiative along with the help of volunteers . Equipped with cutting-edge diagnostic tools and a world-class mobile surgical unit, they provided comprehensive eye care services in one location.
This camp was a first-of-its-kind in Telangana, offering on-site screening, performing cataract surgeries, and distribution of eye lenses and frames to those in need. Over 10 days, more than 2,000 individuals attended, with 929 eligible screened for cataracts. Of these, 111 surgeries were successfully performed on-site, while 75 additional patients were referred to the main hospital for free surgeries. Additionally, 1,000 individuals received corrective lenses and frames to improve their vision.
The impact of this initiative has been deeply fulfilling. Many elderly villagers, who previously had no access to medical care or assistance to visit a hospital, regained their vision—right in their own community. Seeing the joy and relief on their faces was truly heartwarming.
Telangana American Telugu Association (TTA) remains committed to serving communities, preserving rich Telangana culture and uplifting those in need. Together, we can achieve even greater milestones, claims TTA leader Bharath Reddy Madadi.
