Teams across the Chicagoland participated in Volleyball tournament by Greater Chicago Indian Community

Greater Chicago Indian Community (GCIC) organized its annual Volleyball tournament on April 06, 2024 at ARC center in Woodridge, Illinois. GCIC Registration Chair Jayanthi Ramesh and Joint -Treasurer Poornima Mohan made sure that check-in process was smooth for all teams.

Teams from across the Chicagoland land participated in the tournament. Large turn out created a festive atmosphere at ARC center. GCIC sports chair Siva Arige and sports co-chair Hemachandru made sure court assignment was done to all teams promptly.

Tournament format was designed such that teams of all skill levels could play together in league stage. Later, after league stage teams were slotted in Advanced, Intermediate and Basic levels as per their performance. Score in-charges Sarada Vedula and Lakshmi Narayana Thotakura made sure that score was updated promptly on the common display boards.

Planning committee comprising of Siva Arige, Surendrian Semalai, Venkateswarulu Gajjela, SreeHareesh Jammula, Hemachandru and Jayanthi made sure that rules and format details were conveyed to all teams well in advance. Ashwini Kumar Mahanta made sure a high quality live stream of all games was made available on GCIC YouTube channel and Facebook.

Umpiring panel consisting of Siva Desu, Narasimha Oruganti, Venkateswarulu, Jagan Vedula, Kannabiran, Srikant and Madhusudan made sure all the rules were followed and matches completed on time. GCIC board of directors Shasank Saduneni, Siva Palagiri and Srujan Nainappagari made sure that water and refreshments were available all the time.

Pizza Twist Naperville catered the dinner and everyone enjoyed the tasty Indian pizza flavors. Venkat volunteered to bring in all the pizza on time. Entertaining evening ended with prize presentation to winners and runners in all categories.
