Telugu Association of Metro Atlanta (TAMA) is one of the longest serving organizations in Atlanta, Georgia. Although TAMA started as a cultural organization, it has evolved providing many social service activities in the last 43 years. One such major service is TAMA Free Clinic. The idea started in 2012, came into fruition in 2014 with TAMA Free Clinic getting official recognition from Georgia Department of Public Health (GADPH).
TAMA is the only local ethnic organization perhaps in the entire USA that runs a free clinic. With the objective of serving visiting parents who may be uninsured or underinsured and keeping their needs in mind, TAMA Free Clinic has served more than 10,400 patients so far. It is all possible by 50+ volunteers certified by GADPH, 25 volunteer doctors, 50+ youth volunteers along with the TAMA executive committee and board of directors.
