Telugu Heritage Week; North Carolina State-level proclamation, Governor Roy Cooper

Telugu community in the state of North Carolina has received an official proclamation from Governor Roy Cooper, marking a historic milestone as the firs ever state-level recognition of its kind in the United States of America. The Telugu Heritage Week proclamation celebrates the rich Telugu cultural heritage and contributions, signifying the unity and resilience.

From May 28th 2023 (NTR Birthday) to June 3rd 2023 is proclaimed as Telugu Heritage Week. Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao (NTR) name is seen 3 times in the entire proclamation as he left a significant mark in Telugu speaking communities with his multi-dimensional contributions.

Telugu Pride Day is scheduled to celebrate on June 3rd 2023 to commemorate and celebrate the life of NTR and to showcase the unique Telugu heritage and culture by the North Carolina Telugu Community. Andhra Pradesh Ex Chief Minister, Nara Chandrababu Naidu tweeted about this great honor.

There has been various city level proclamations in different States in US, but this is the first state-level proclamation. North Carolina Telugu community extends their heartfelt gratitude to Sridhar Gottipati for initiating this proclamation request and Ratna Sekar Garimella for playing an instrumental role in securing this prestigious recognition.
