Plainsboro, NJ – This past weekend, the tranquil town of Plainsboro, New Jersey, echoed with camaraderie and nostalgia as over 150 G Pulla Reddy Engineering College (GPREC) alums convened for a memorable reunion. The GPREC North America Alumni Meet 2023 saw alums from as early as the pioneering batch of 1984-88 to the recent graduates of 2017-21 joining hands in celebrating their shared history.

The event started with a traditional inauguration ceremony as the young progeny of the alum families filled the air with melodious prayer songs. In a touching tribute to the college’s founders, Late Smt and Sri Narayanamma & Pulla Reddy Garu, the torchbearers of the first batch lit a lamp, symbolizing the enduring light of knowledge and wisdom that GPREC has been propagating for decades.

The founders of the GPREC North America Alumni Organization took this opportunity to provide an update on the vision and future plans of the association. Representatives from the college management traveled to the US to join the event, and the administration staff joined virtually via Zoom, further bridging the distance between the college and its North America-based alumni.

Throughout the two-day event, the GPREC alums delved into many activities, with the scenic surroundings of Plainsboro and the neighboring Princeton campus as their backdrop. The New Jersey chapter of the Alumni Association left no stone unturned in their warm hospitality, triggering fond reminiscences of their cherished college days in Kurnool among the attendees.

One of the event’s highlights was the cultural performances by the children of the alumni, a testament to the continuous encouragement for arts and artistic endeavors within the GPREC community. Adding to the cultural extravaganza, a film titled “Gurthukosthunnaayi,” produced by an alumnus, was premiered, furthering the essence of celebration and creativity.

Through several informative sessions, the event underscored the profound contributions of GPREC alums to sports, arts, culture, society, and their communities. Attendees got a glimpse into numerous non-profit initiatives and social engagements led by their fellow alumni. These sessions offered an impressive display of the broader societal impact GPREC alums are making beyond their professional domains, echoing the enduring values the college instills in its students.

A forum focused on women’s empowerment featured inspiring messages and guidance, amplifying the critical role of women in the GPREC community and beyond. In a significant development, alumni from the 1987-91 batch announced a generous $60,000 seed endowment to establish a modern technology lab at GPREC. This lab aims to provide students with hands-on practical exposure to the latest industry trends in AI, Robotics, and UAV (drone) applications, keeping them at the forefront of technological innovation.

The reunion culminated in a vibrant business forum, contributing to professional development. The meeting started on an inspirational note by sharing Sri G Pulla Reddy’s six simple rules for a successful business. A panel discussion featuring business and technology leaders among the GPREC alums ensued, where they shared invaluable insights from their professional journeys.

This forum offered a unique platform for alum entrepreneurs and business owners to showcase their ventures and explore opportunities for collaboration and mutual growth. Furthermore, the panel included a career guidance session for recent graduates, reflecting the GPREC community’s commitment to mentoring and supporting its newest members.

From the heartwarming opening rituals to the engaging business forum conclusion, the GPREC North America Alumni Meet 2023 was a treasure trove of old and new memories. It strengthened the bond within the alum community and set the stage for the GPREC family to reconnect, inspire, and be inspired.
