Los Angeles ATA Chapter: Women’s Throwball Tournament 2023

American Telugu Association (ATA) Los Angeles team successfully hosted the Women’s Throwball Tournament in Irvine, Los Angeles on April 16th at Deerfield community park. 7 teams participated in the tournament with over 50 players and around 200 enthusiastic spectators witnessed the games.

The event was planned and organized by ATA Los Angeles team members Narsimha Reddy Dhyasani (BOT), Rinda Sama (BOT), Vijay Thupally (BOT), Koti Meka (RC), Niranjan Challa (RC), Goutham Pindi (RC) along with many other volunteers.

Volunteers include Priyanka Chandupatla, Anuradha Yalamuri, Swetha Gangireddy, Lekha Reddy, Saraswati Sama, Ravinder Dyapa, Abhinav Chirra, Srinath Peram, Bayapa Reddy Dadem, Sagar Gade, Jaipal Reddy, Venkat Peddi, Amar Kethireddy, Ramakrishna Seelam, Nagaraju Goud and more.

The tournament required planning for weeks including the coordination with players, venue selection, development of rules & draws and other logistics.  Volunteers arrived at 6 AM on the tournament day and supported throughout the day during the 10 round-robin games, semi-finals and finals. 

The games were played very competitively with long rallies.  The finals went to a third game between Team Terrific and Team Trailblazers with Team Terrific winning the Tournament. ATA LA team expresses their gratitude to the ATA Executive team and Board of Trustees for providing this wonderful opportunity to serve the community.

They also appreciated the support of the community for the event and extended thanks to Telugu Association of Southern California (TASC) for helping with the organization of the event and Vishnu catering for providing food.
