Illinois: GCIC Volleyball Tournament Concludes with High-Energy Championship at Woodridge ARC Center

Woodridge, Illinois, March 28, 2026: The Greater Chicago Indian Community (GCIC) successfully hosted its 2026 Indoor Volleyball Tournament at the ARC Center in Woodridge, bringing together top-tier athletes and fans from across the Chicagoland area for a day of elite competition and community spirit.

The tournament featured two divisions—Intermediate and Beginner—designed to provide a competitive platform for various skill levels. Spectators enjoyed a day of intense rallies and strategic play that kept the atmosphere electric from the opening serves to the final championship points.

“Our goal was to celebrate the spirit of volleyball while providing a platform for local players to showcase their incredible talent,” said Shashank Saduneni, Greater Chicago Indian Community (GCIC) President. “The energy and sportsmanship displayed today were truly inspiring.”

The event’s success was driven by the dedicated planning of the GCIC Sports and Planning Committees. Key organizers included Surendran Semalai, Swapna Bomma, Poornima Jayabalan, Hemachandru Nerlige Rangappa, Siva Arige, Venkateswarulu Gajjela, Shashank Saduneni, Srujan Nainappagari, Seshu Chamarthi, and Siva Reddy Palagiri, who managed everything from player communications to court assignments and execution.

Greater Chicago Indian Community (GCIC) Board Director Venkat Perumalla ensured participants remained fueled with refreshments throughout the day, while volunteers Silambarasan, Sathish, and Bhargavi played a key role in supporting the event’s seamless execution.

At the conclusion of the matches, trophies were awarded to the teams demonstrating exceptional skill and dedication. President Saduneni extended his gratitude to the sponsors, volunteers, and the local community, noting that the Greater Chicago Indian Community (GCIC) looks forward to returning with an even larger edition in 2027.
