TTA promotes cultural heritage with Bathukamma festival in New York

The Telangana American Telugu Association (TTA), a cultural association dedicated to promoting Telangana’s rich traditions and cultural heritage, hosted its marquee Bathukamma festival event at the Radisson Hotel. The day was brightened with the presence of over 700 attendees, all gathered to celebrate the vibrant culture of Telangana

The festival’s significance was elevated with the august presence of TTA founder, Dr. Pailla Malla Reddy, and Advisory Council Co-Chair, Dr. Mohan Reddy Patalolla, along with their families, both esteemed personalities extended wishes for good health, happiness, and prosperity to the community.

The event was inaugurated with Sri Lalitha Sahasranama Parayanam, with prayers reverently offered to Goddess Durga Matha. The atmosphere became electric as hundreds of women, donned in traditional saris and jewelry, participated in the Bathukamma dance and play in traditional way.

Folk Singer Shalini, visiting from India, further enchanted the audience with her melodious Bathukamma songs and dance. Spectacular dance showcases were a significant highlight. Engaging dances by children and youth mesmerized all, while a poignant classical dance was offered to the Goddess.

The ceremony culminated in the immersion of all Bathukammas in a neighboring water pond. A delicious and sumptuous traditional Telangana lunch was provided, followed by a shopping spree from multiple vendors offering authentic clothing and jewelry. The evening ended with a spirited Dandiya and open dance floor.

Special acknowledgment goes to Dr. Pailla Malla Reddy for his invaluable support and encouragement. He took the occasion to laud the TTA New York team for orchestrating such a grand community gathering and extended Dussehra greetings to all.

Sahodar Peddireddy the national Treasurer of TTA congratulated the New York team, led by Regional Vice President Sathya N. Reddy Gaggenapally, for their impeccable organization and execution of the event.

The contributions of National Treasurer Sahodar Peddireddy, Board of Directors Usha Reddy Mannem, Mallik Reddy, Pavan Ravva, R.V.P Sathya Gaggenapally, Standing committee members Sharath Vemuganti, Srinivas Guduru along with Regional Coordinators Sunil Gaddam, Vani Singirikonda, Sowmya Chittari, Vijendar Reddy, Haricharan Bobbili & Prahallada Kulkarni, were paramount.

Special acknowledgment was reserved for the spouses of the TTA New York team for their tireless backend support. Support from local associations, the New York Telangana Telugu Association (NYTTA) and Telugu Literary and Cultural Association (TLCA), was integral to the event’s success.
