Badminton Marathon by TANA Northeast, the largest in Boston area
Heard of a Badminton Marathon? Yes, it happened at the TANA Northeast Telugu Badminton League (TBL’23) which was concluded on 15th October 2023. A marathon happens when 170 top tier players, from 4 countries and 4 US States competed.
This sports event produced some exhilarating Badminton in 245 matches for close to 18 hours from 8 am to 1.30 am next day. The event had 21 categories and it ended up with 78 winners. Easily billed as one of the largest badminton event in the New England area.
It was sponsored and conducted by TANA Northeast chapter led by Sunil Polineni, Nachiappan Chokkalingam and Kalidas Surapaneni. Mr. Kalidas Surpaneni of TANA, a rabid sports enthusiast, welcomed everyone and introduced the main event organizers, sponsors and the volunteers.
Mr. K P Sompally of TANA, talked about TANA and its involvement in major charity and social activities in India and USA. Mr. Naga Panchumarthi, Mr. Srinivas Yenduri, Prashanth Katragadda of TANA provided support throughout the process.
Nachiappan, Incharge, event logistics, provided all the facts and numbers of the event. Mr. Sunil Polineni, Chief Organizer concluded the event by giving a Vote of Thanks to all volunteers, sponsors, food suppliers Bawarchi Restaurant and all players who participated.
Mr. Sunil Polineni also honored Master Kai Chong, Junior Champ All-England Open ‘2023 and Master Evan Liu, U-15 PAN America ‘2023 Champion. Pizza was served for all the participants and volunteers for lunch along along with drinks to hydrate.
