Austin, Texas: Unity Church of the Hills in Austin, Texas hosted the Sankara Nethralaya USA annual fundraising event, featuring an evening of distinguished music, dance, and philanthropy. The event welcomed over 200 attendees and showed more than 25 skilled performers, including renowned guest artists and students from prominent local dance schools.

From 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM, attendees experienced a dynamic program of outstanding performances, all aimed at supporting the restoration of sight for individuals affected by preventable blindness in rural India through Mobile Eye Surgical Units (MESU) and complimentary eye camps.

The proceedings commenced with remarks highlighting MESU’s outreach and impact, presented by Karun Reddy (Austin CVP) and Jagannath Vedula (Board of Trustees). Austin Chapter Leads, Jagadish Babu Jonnada and Mallikarjunarao Chintakunta, coordinated donor engagement and shared updates regarding ongoing camp activities.

Narayan Reddy Indurthi, Board of Trustees member, delivered an informative overview of Sankara Nethralaya’s history, essential services, and current initiatives. Drawing upon his own experiences and feedback received from the MESU Adopt-a-Village camp, his reflections were well received by the audience.

Dance presentations by students from Natyalaya School of Dance (under Mrs. Vinitha), Austin Dance India (led by Mrs. Anu Naimpally), and Pavitra School artists contributed to the evening’s success and supported Sankara Nethralaya USA’s mission. Donors for the MESU “Adopt-A-Village” initiative—including Smt. Lakshmi & Sri Ram and Smt. Revathi & Sri Jagadish Babu Jonnada—were formally recognized on stage.

This acknowledgement underscored their vital role in sustaining mobile eye camps across rural India. Donors expressed appreciation for Sankara Nethralaya’s mission and commended the collective efforts of the Austin team. The evening also featured exceptional vocal performances by Sri Parthu Nemani Garu, Sri Mallikarjun Garu, and Smt. Anjana Soumya Garu. Their artistry was highly applauded, and each appeal for donations further advanced the noble cause of Sankara Nethralaya USA.

The event concluded with acknowledgments to the Board of Advisors, President Sri Bala Reddy Indurti Garu for arranging the singers and guiding the local organizers to run the program smoothly, Moorthy Rekapally garu, Dr. Reddy Urimindi garu, Shyam Appali garu, Vamsi Eruvaram garu, Ratnakumar Kavuturu garu and Goverdhan Rao Nidiganti garu for managing logistics, the Executive Committee, MESU sponsors, Adopt-a-Village donors, cataract surgery sponsors, and all patrons, whose generosity facilitates vision restoration projects in India.
