Echoes of Compassion – Where Art Meets Heart: Sankara Nethralaya Raises $150,000 in Washington D.C. Metro Area

Washington D.C.: The Sankara Nethralaya (SN) fundraising event held on December 6th, 2025, in the D.C. Metro area was a remarkable success, raising an impressive $150,000 for the renowned eye care institution. The event, which took place in a vibrant celebration of culture and compassion, was led by the Chapter Vice President, Ramana Reddy Maddikunta, and CapEx Member, Thirumal Reddy Munukuntla.

The evening’s theme, “Echoes of Compassion: Where Art Meets Heart,” beautifully brought together the art of classical and traditional dance with the spirit of philanthropy. The event featured a range of breathtaking performances by local academies, showcasing both youth and adult dancers who enthralled the audience with their skill and devotion.

The dance performances were meticulously coordinated by cultural team member Ms. Lakshmi Babu, whose dedication ensured that the event was both moving and unforgettable. The event was graced by esteemed Guest of Honor, Sri S. V. Acharya, who added a touch of elegance to the evening with his presence and words of encouragement.

His support, along with that of 11 MESU sponsors, was pivotal in making the event a tremendous success. The generous MESU sponsors included Sri Selva & Smt. Prathibha Jayaraman, Sri Bhuvanesh Boojala, Smt. Banumati Ramkrishna, Sri Sravan Paduru, Sri Krishnakanth Kuchhalakanti, Sri Praveen Palreddy, Sri Raghu Palreddy, Sri Venkat Doma, Sri Thirumal Munukuntla, and Sri Raghu Juvvadi.

Their contributions, both financial and logistical, made the event possible and demonstrated their unwavering commitment to supporting Sankara Nethralaya’s vision of providing quality eye care to those in need. In addition to the sponsors, numerous individuals from the SNUSA National and DC Metro Chapters played an integral role in ensuring the event’s success.

Special recognition goes to Smt. Neelima Gaddamanugu, Sri Krishna Raj Bhat, Sri Sowmiya Narayanan, and the DC Chapter Leads, including Balaji Radhakrishnan, Haritha Reddy, Arjun Kamisetti, Diliraj Chantivelu, Roopesh Chinnakampalli, and Karthik Goud. These volunteers dedicated their time and efforts to make the event run smoothly, ensuring a seamless experience for all attendees.

The event also received vital support from the SNUSA President, Sri Bala Reddy Indurti, and all Board of Trustees and committee members. Their leadership and strategic direction were key in the event’s success. Additionally, heartfelt thanks were extended to all the participants, teachers, media and photography teams, and youth volunteers who played an essential role in making the evening memorable.

Thanks are due to  Treasurer Sri Moorthy Rekapalli for the logistics and Sri Giri Kotagiri for media support. A special note of appreciation is due to the Master of Ceremony, Sriya Babu, whose eloquence and engaging presence kept the event flowing smoothly and energetically.

The media and photography teams also deserve recognition for capturing the essence of the event, ensuring that the memories of this important night will be cherished for years to come. The dedication and hard work of the volunteers were invaluable, and their tireless contributions were integral in making the event such a success.

The funds raised at this event will go towards supporting Sankara Nethralaya’s mission of providing high-quality eye care to underserved communities, ensuring that more people in need have access to the world-class treatment the institution is known for.
