Sitting is the new smoking

Published

on

Studies reveal that sitting for 6 hours a day is equal to smoking more than a pack of cigarettes. It can take a toll on the heart by increasing the levels of cholesterol and fat which can lead to type 2 diabetes.

Good news is that even small physical activities, like the following, can greatly reduce the risk to your heart.

1. Stand up every 30 minutes, even if it is just for couple of minutes.

2. Stand whenever you are in shorter meetings.

3. Instead of typing long emails to colleagues, walk-in to their desk.

4. Do simple stretches at your desk.

5. Do workout or walk or play your favorite game for 15 minutes.

Remember your family is waiting at home counting on you!
