Chicago, Illinois, September 13, 2025: The Greater Chicago Indian Community organized a vibrant and energetic 5K Run on Saturday, drawing over 250 enthusiastic participants from across the region. The event celebrated health, unity, and cultural pride, bringing together families, fitness enthusiasts, and community leaders for a morning of movement and connection.
GCIC board of directors Suganthi Natarajan, Deeksha Sharma, Venkat Reddy Lingareddygari, Chandana Puranam, Seshu Chamarthi, Aadi Narayana Tanneru, Siva Reddy Palagiri, Shashank Saduneni, Poornima Jayabalan, Siva Arige, Venkat Perumalla, Venkateswarulu Gajjela, Hemachandru Nerlige Rangappa, Kalaivani Saravanan, Charansree, Swapna B Bomma, Srujan Nainappagari participated in 5K run.
Hindu Temple of Greater Chicago ( HTGC ) President Veena Marwah and Vice President Jayanthi Mittur started the race. Secretary Venkat Reddy Lingareddygari and Past Presidents Tilak Marwah & Lakshman Mittur encouraged all the participants.
Following the run, attendees were treated to a hot Indian breakfast, featuring traditional favorites that added a flavorful touch to the celebration. The aroma of fresh chai, poha, and idlis filled the air as runners cooled down and mingled with fellow participants.
“This event was more than just a run — it was a celebration of our shared heritage and commitment to wellness,” said one of the organizers of this 5K run. “We’re thrilled with the turnout and grateful for the community’s support.”

The 5K Run marks another successful initiative by the Greater Chicago Indian Community (GCIC) to promote active living and cultural engagement. Plans are already underway for future events that continue to build bridges across generations and backgrounds.
