Cumming, Georgia: Nestled in the quaint community of Bellehurst in Cumming, Georgia, our annual Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations stand as a vibrant testament to community spirit and heartfelt devotion. More than just a festival, this is a time when our diverse community comes together, united by a shared sense of purpose and faith.
Weeks before the festival, the excitement begins with community-wide activities. From spirited games of soccer and chess to fun-filled rounds of lemon-and-spoon and musical chairs, there is something for everyone—young and old alike.
This year, a beautiful new tradition was introduced: making our own clay Ganesha idols. This hands-on activity gave children the chance to channel their creativity while expressing devotion in a deep personal way.
As the festival officially commenced, a powerful sense of unity enveloped the entire community. Young and old, including visiting parents, gathered to welcome our beloved Ganesh Maharaj with unwavering devotion. Families from every corner of India – North, South, East, and West – came together as one, forming teams to manage decorations, inventory, and logistics.
In a beautiful display of harmony, families prepared “Ganesh Prasad” through daily potluck dinners, ensuring that no one went hungry. The true success of the festivities lies in the selfless service of our volunteers. Men, women, and even children stepped forward with enthusiasm, embodying the spirit of giving and community.
Adding to the joy this year, our beloved Bellehurst Ganesh Laddu auction raised $3,000, marking yet another memorable highlight of the celebration. Ganesh Chaturthi is not just a festival; it is a profound celebration, a vibrant expression of devotion, and a powerful force that binds our community together.
